How to lower KH?

Wow thanks for all the info, I do have my skimmer on but the collection cup is off, reason being is to add oxygen to the water from the skimmer, but not kill any of the bacteria.

Thats the normal way I run my skimmer too :)

Im only running it like that for the cycle, you run it like that all the time?

Mostly - but for the moment I run in very dry mode. Only 1 cm in three weeks. Its nearly the same - only aeration

Why is that?

When I run it without cup - I want the things I collected out in the system again - I have 4 large deresa clams and a lot of sponges (some tunicates too). sometimes it is too much of the good stuff and I want to slowly collect some. I will not run without a skimmer in my presents system - too much biomass in it. I need someting for my gasexchange - Oxygen in under night (sometimes out during peak of photosynthesis), CO2 out during night - in during photosynthesis time and NH3 out the whole time
