How to remove big sps from rock?

I don't want to move the rock since it's covered in aiptasia...

What's the best way to frag the whole sps coral off?

I have a policpora, red planet that are the big ones. The rest I can just use bone cutters but these two don't look as easy due to thickness.

What is your goal here? Do you just wish to remove the Aiptasia?

I am downsizing to a 40b so tanks getting shut down.

I want to frag today so it gives them time to recover before I move them over in a month after the cycle is done.

Ah ok.

I would frag a nice piece for a backup and then cut the rest off at the base. It all depends on what pieces you want to keep intact. Bone cutters will do the job. Just etch away at one area and it will snap off.

Well bone cutters didn't do it!

The thing is like 3" thick... I ended up using a hacksor on it until it wouldn't do anymore...I guess the inside of the trunk is rock hard and the slime wouldn't allow me to saw any further, so I took a chisel and hammer and gave it a good whack and it took it off as a clean piece.

I managed to frag 4 heads of my Red Planet too and they came off really nice so I am happy about that.

This should give the frags about 5-6 weeks of recovery time before they will be transferred to the new tank. I believe my new tanks cycling should be done in about 2 weeks, then I will transfer livestock over the course of 3-4 weeks since I only have a couple fish and then maybe an extra week to make sure all the stats are good.
