Since your ATO looks like its NOT in a finished living space, what i do is put a tee in the line and run it up to the ceiling attache to wall so it doesn't fall. no ato woll pump up that high when the easiest exit is your ATO resevoiur. As soon as ATO shuts off, the tee line to ceiling breaks siphon. $2.00 investment in a John Guest tee. :)

A really good way to ensure your siphon breaks is to drill a small hole in your tubing right before it leaves your reservoir, that way when the pump shuts off the air stops any siphoning:) yeah a little water pumps back into your reservoir but it beats a tank crash from salinity drop ;)

Solid answer and years later you saved me. I couldnt figure out why my sump level kept rising. Once I figured out the culprit, I needed to figure out the fix. You were dead on. Thank you

This is a genius solution. I have my ato line ran up to my over flow box after I learned fast that the siphon wasn’t breaking. I believe the Aqua xp Duetto has a siphon break, it was to use that would I place it roughly where you would suggest to drill the tiny hole in the tube, below the top of my reservoir?

Yup, right before the tube leaves your reservoir as when the pump runs it's going to pump water out the hole. Just falls back into the reservoir. Then when the pump shuts off, air enters the system and stops the siphon :)
