Call me crazy but I love the frag look. A few weeks ago I bought my ever first corals, 3 acros. And I have already ordered 6 more!!! I'm so hooked. I've had my tanks for 1.5 years with focus on breeding sexy shrimps and mollies and also some macro algae but now I'm just SO in love with litttle cute stick frags! People keep saying that i'll run out of space but hey - let's think about it later on right! :cool::cool::rolling-on-the-floor-laughing: I see no turning back for me.

This is extremely rare just so you know. I've been to so many reef club meetings that all I heard was my wife said I only have an hour and not to come home with anything. My ex was the same.

Yep! And you two are pretty rare! Seems like most here are pretty much alone in their addiction. I'm actually shocked that mine is OK with a 10K buy in with livestock after that. She just wants all the money spent as soon as possible! I'm a lucky man!

My hubby is not into any thing aqua and he never complains, never asks questions. And neither do I with him and his interests.

Don’t deny it, accept that it’s not an addiction. You are a philanthropist who’s saving these corals from extinction. Without your good will, these frags will wither away.

What I would do: get a bigger tank, or two, or three. When you run out of space, get a bigger house and repeat the process. Finally, when you realize that you’re running out of money, it forces you to creatively think to make more money and continue to spread your generosity further!

People who don’t support your mission are losers and you shouldn’t be part of your life anyway.

(ahem, I’m sick so blame the meds?) ;)

I run a 20g reef tank with over 60 different corals currently in the tank. Running kalk as my top off with 10ml all for reef to keep the alk from dropping.

I can't seem to stop buying sps frags !!!!

20g reef? This is the mistake most people make when starting. You need at least 60 gallons to feed your addiction. Im already eyeing up 100-115 in the next 2-3 years and ive only been up and running 6 months on my 65g.

It does. When mine went down in 2012 or so, it frustrated me so much I bowed out x12 years.

LOL, and it didn't for my wife as well back in the day. It was a subject of concern. And she DID have a point. I was in the wrong. This time, I'm completely up front with everything. Her only concern is that I do it right this time. She wants me to get the best equipment possible and spend all the money up front (livestock excepted). I'm a pretty lucky dude.

My first saltwater tank was 80g and quickly became 120 in 3 months! That turned into multiple 180, 175, and a few “small” 60g ones — all at the same time! Fast forward 30yrs later, I’m running a 450g, 150g, and a 93g. The other two hospital tanks are 275g and yes, a 20g.

So it’s all relative - I’ve seen people with multiple large tanks and they’re really talking about 1000g+ — the addiction is real! Ha

That's amazing. I can only fit my upcoming 203g, a 90g (if I so choose) and a 40g. When I redo my garage and turn it into my Music Room and Pool Room I may put a 120g in there.

Thats wild. Agree all relative but I just dont have the income for anything over 120g. If I could choose and money was no issue, id prob run a 180ish rimless.

its easy to stop, move to an island in the middle of nowhere and hope for the best

When I came back 2 years ago after 12ish years away I started with a 30ishg tank. A year later I set up my 80g cube and I just leveled the floor to set up my 180g before the end of the year (hopefully).

Yeah I spent as much as if I could've gotten a 80g or slightly bigger. My next tank size will be a 170g. Been watching the cade s2 1500, it's perfect for my lounge room.

But I think it's time to stop moving frags around, most have encrusted off the plugs and onto the rocks. Can't wait to get some height in the tank, but I heard more lights and pumps will be needed for a dominant sps tank, then my lps will get unhappy lol. Maybe then I will plan for the 180g

I agree with @Chrisv. Running out of feasible room is becoming my problem. So you either stop...or upgrade the tank.
Currently I am holding out on really nice scolymia, like a unique master. As well as a rare acanthophyllia. These will cost in the thousands, however, its what I want and I'm just not buying other stuff until them. Its a good practice session of patience for me.
