So about the alk questions, I should test it monday and divide what by 3 I guess since it will be 3 days without dosing divide the number by 3.
You could do that. I like to test daily when first starting out. I did the get my alk, calc, mag to where I want them figured out my daily consumption over a 5 day period and then dosed alk to my level and started AFR. With AFR I can test around 24hrs later and see the change or at least a change, is that all of it? IDK but its close enough. As long as my alk stays within .5dkh I dont worry too much. it takes a bit to get used to AFR but its not as difficult as people are making it out to be. ITS easy, all in one and you dont need a doser to dose it. I use a 100ml graduated beaker its graduated in 10ml increments if I need 4ml I use a syringe. I currently dose 45ml daily to keep around 8.5dkh. My calcium if and when I test it is around 460-480 I have not tested mag in quite a while last time I tested it was near 1500 which is fine for my torches and hammers nothing else seems to be bothered either.

Hey, I know it's something different but I use a Milwaukee salinity checker and I just used distilled water to calibrate it, well the distilled water was in a container under a cabinet and the water felt cold, and then when I checked my tank water, it kept reading around 1.023, and I swear it was around 1.025. Could it be affected by temperature, but then whenever I use the distilled water that came with the unit, it reads 1.000, and when I use the calibration fluid that came with it, it reads 1.022, so I am kinda confused.
Make sure you wait long enough for the temperature to stabilize both for the daily distilled calibration as well as the test sample. Additionally directions say shake calibration fluid vigorously prior to use, so you may have altered the calibration fluid by not shaking enough.
