Curious how others would stock a tank. Fish suggestions please

250 gallon (72”x30”). Oversized skimmer, UV and ATS in use. Basically Fish Only system for now (I may add corals later).

So what would you stock? Predators? Peaceful community? A mix? Large and / or small fish?

I would personally stock maybe a horn/epaulette/or a bamboo shark and make it a predator tank if its a FOWLR system! If it were with corals, then definitely a peaceful community with a bunch of tangs, clowns, anthias, etc!

Is there any specific invert/fish/coral you would like to keep?

I set up my tank specifically for a bamboo shark, rehomed it after a while and now it’s a mixed reef with more euphyllia.

I was thinking banded cat shark (but then no puffers or triggers for sure).

I was thinking predator (lion fish, grouper); but I wanted to mix some tangs too.

Any and all suggestions are appreciated. Thank you!

Take your categories (lion, triggers, tang, wrasse, butterfly , etc) and create a wish list. Determine if you want to add or not add coral. This alone will help determine your direction as butterflies and puffers as an example dont mix well with coral.
Then determine compatability with mixture of fish and consider size capabilities also

I would def get a marine betta. Great colors, can fend for himself, almost no bioload, and I think its reef safe with caution.
