I'm just not clear on how to use the following items in my apex.
An need help understanding the purpose of the following items in my apex. All these are in my tile window an I have no idea how they are used.

1. Link A an link B? What is it an why?
2. SW1-6 ?
3. SWX 8 thru 9?
4.blue white led

I can locate the piece of equipment they are from / linked to. But their purpose is unkown to me.
Swx9-1 & 2 is associated with one of my neptune dos pumps

Swx8_1 thru 6 is associated with my pm1 module

Sw1 thru 6 is Digital Switches on the Apex Base Unit

Link A thru b is associated with my EB842 engry bars.

The blu an white led is associated with my Vdm module

1st question:
There will be two programmable outlets automatically created when you connect the 1LINK to your Apex system. They will be called LINKA_X_1 and LINKB_X_2 where ‘X’ is the module number automatically assigned to your 1LINK. These outlets correspond to the 24VDC ACC ports on the 1LINK; they are for use with Neptune Systems accessory products;

The LinkA_#_9 and LinkB_#_10 are the two 24v Accessory outputs on the side of your EB832. You can connect a PMUP, Solenoid, or GRO refugium light to them. You can also buy the bare wire kit to connect any 24v device of your choice.

Sw1-Sw6 are the six ports available for switch inputs you can connect to a breakout box.

The Blue and White outputs are output 5 and 6 of whatever module has AquaBus address 4. Click the gear icon next to each one and you’ll see the description of the physical module.

Read my Apex Hardware Overview article for details on all the available modules:

One of the best ways to familiarize yourself with each Input and Output is to look at the System View where you can expand each module to see what's connected:

Once you identify everything, do yourself a favor and rename the items that are in use so they have more meaningful names. For example, I renamed the inputs on my FMM to ATK_Lo and ATK_Hi which mean a lot more to me than the default names of Swx4_1 and Swx4_2. Input names are limited to 6 characters, and output names are limited to 12 characters.

Thanks guys. I am assuming that these that I pulled in for the sake of this thread, are unused. Because I have named everything I am using as I installed them. The "I wonder flag" went off in my head today as I was installing another DOS

Yes, it's common to have many unused inputs and outputs. Especially when it comes to any module which has an I/O port (such as the PM1, PM2, PM3, or ASM modules) since each of these will show up as 6 new switches. It's best to remove any unused tiles from your dashboard to avoid clutter and confusion.

yeah, I'm going to hide them all once I'm done looking, Ok so here's another question.

as you can see my new dos (220dos) has 2 switches SWX9 1-2 and my other dos's do not. is this because this dos (220dos) pump has a DDR CONNECTED TO IT? my other dos pumps have nothing connected to them. if this is true, why do the switches on my dashboard say closed? does closed mean taken, in use, occupied? etc. also I can not slide them to the open position, the only thing I can do is rename them? so why rename them if they are unuseable?

Yes, when you connect a DDR to the DOS, the two optical sensors show up as two switches on the DOS. You can use those switches to send alarms when the DDR is empty, or have it disable the DOS.
