I had one about that big. I think he was 4 years old. He ate my fire shrimp during a molt. For that devilish act, I threw him in the intercoastal waterway in Jacksonville Florida. C'est la vie crab.
Did you see it kill tye fire shrimp or just it eating dead or dying remains?

Here is video of 1 of largest Emerald crab I have. It has 2.5 inch long arms, the big claws have 0.5 8nch lomg pinchers! Check it out ...

1. Is this Emerald crab?
2. Is this advisable to be removed?

Note:
A. I see him eating even in day time and with light flashing at him (like now) but never saw him touch corals or fish.
B. I have not seen any damage in my tank other than disappearance of 2 big and 2 new Peppermint shrimps.

Watched the shrimp molt. Then watched the crab eat him. It wasn't a dead shrimp until the crab got him. I used to love those crabs too. I still do when they are small. I'll never get another though.

I was gifted this crab. Looks like an emerald but I have never seen one this big. EVER! The body itself is quarter size and the arms extend to aprx 2 inches total. Is it an emerald or a green something else?

Wow! He is cool!!!

I don’t have peppermint shrimp but a skunk cleaner and a blood red cleaner shrimp in with 2 emerald crabs larger that the OP’s. No problems, they are herbivores.

emeralds are not herbivore
