I believe that is its mouth, idk why it would react that way though...

It wasn't trying to eat the debris. The debris was actually a zoa polyp that didn't get glued all the way down. Saw it sitting in its tentacles for a half hour or so......

By the looks of it it was getting ready to. Just my opinion though.

Give it a piece of shrimp or food you have and see what it does.
