yeah i thought it was a scopas but the black on it is jet jet black. no brown it goes from really light grey on the mouth to black black on it's rear. it has really thin white maze stripes on it too. :squigglemouth: heres another pic
hmm...100 for a hybrid black tang?? if that is really real, which i have not seen yet, then it's a steal. and by no means am i saying because i haven't seen it, that it doesn't exist. i am only saying i am skeptical because the pic does look like a darker scopus tang, which i have seen a few times before. just be careful that's all. and if you do end up getting it, keep us updated on its health. the ONLY fish i have left in my tank is a scopus tang, and he is an eating machine, algae lover, and nuisance pest controller. as annoying as he is when i am trying to take pics of corals and such, he is extremely useful and has DEFINITELY earned his keep in my tank. but anyway, whatever you do, just make sure that fish is exactly what the LFS says it is. and best of luck with it!!
hey xraided, what kind of nuisance pests does it control? only reason i went to my lfs is to pick up a kole tang to do some algae control in my tank. then I saw this guy. my friend (not owner) advised me strongly as he thinks it might pick at my zoas. any truth there? TANG POLICE ALERT! also no worries if i get him/her it's going into a 180g.
Fwiw my old scopus tang was around mentioned size and almost black with said mentions stripes and I paid $17, I think if you trust him to be an honest dealer not misleading you then agreed it's a steal at $100 for a hybrid
perhaps they read that wrong. somtimes they come listed as black scopas. those tangs are pretty variable as it is. some are pretty black some are grey some brown and some even look yellow
Just got a black scopas for $15 yesterday. I personally wouldn't, but I think you are going to do it. It's hard to resist when the fish is right in front of you. Keep us posted on your decision
ah ok after really thinking about it i'm not going to pull the trigger. sounds like and looks like a black/dark scopas tang. still cool fish and if my buddy comes way down in price i'll make the purchase. anyways my $9 kole tang is doing great!
