im new to sps having recently placed a blue voodoo ~4-5" and a larger green hyndnophra ~5-6" in my 55g reef tanks that is a few months old. I have good coralin0e growth comming in on the rocks and my glass lol. over the past couple days the tissue on the tips of the hydno have been receeding showing the white skeliton underneath. Mt acro looks greathowever so I dont think its a water quality issue. My numbers are just a little low on Wednesday, using Seachem testkits they were:
SG 1.021
Temp 77.9
MG 1125
NO3 4 or less
PO4 none registering
ALK 2.0 Mel/Q
PH 8.3
Ca 350

i keep my in the corner of the tank doesent get much light or flow and loves its, id say raise your salinity up to .25. give it less light with less flow and it should be fine they are generally really hardy.

Thanks guys, im working on getting my salinity back up (i had brain fart flood a while back) And am trying to dose up my MG with the Tech M unitl I make my own 2 part. I agree i have it pretty high on my tank in good flow so I'll move him back. Being that its from the tips I think its bleaching too. Thanks again for the responses!!!!

I'm going to disagree....I have a colony and it is one of the most light demanding corals I have. If I don't have mine up high it looks brown. I also have tons of direct flow on it...:squigglemouth: Here I got this off of a site: "Hydnophora species, especially branching growth forms, prefer strong intermittent flow and high intensity reef lighting"

I second the high lighting. I have found that the green really likes some high intensity rays. When I kept it next to the blue piece I have lower in my tank it slowly began to recede, while the blue is growing nicely.
