I breed and raise clownfish. In hatching, I set up a clean 10 gallon tank, half filled with freshly made saltwater. Only adding a heater and an airstone. After about 10-12 days, I begin to see tiny, upside down, blue "jellyfish". My question is...are they coming in as cysts in the salt? How are they being introduced into the clownfish hatch tank? Any thoughts?

I was wondering this same thing recently. Does dehydrated sea salt carry a risk of embedded cysts that synthetic salt does not? I assume based on your question you aren't using a synthetic salt.

I would assume there are other potentials paths of contamination in your setup, but an interesting question nonetheless.
