I have a pretty serious hydroid infestation and my research doesn’t show any promising results to eradicate them.

Any words of advice or success stories out there???

Tuxedo urchin will eat them somewhat. I herd great things about a copper band butterfly. But I haven’t tryed yet .
A opposite reaction I noticed is, when I dosed phosphate. There numbers exploded. From a hundred tank wide to thousands.

Check out the explosion in numbers from phosphate doseing . The white pic is before the bluish pic is today .

I got copper band butterfly and bumblebee snails. We’ll see if they do anything. After that I’m going to meds in a QT/treatment tank.

Yes sandman can you take a before pic and a after pic once your new animals do there work?

Hopefully those snails work. Keep us posted on the progress! I have a lot of hydroids like yours that I need to get rid of.

Fingers crossed but I don’t have my hopes up. I imagine I’ll have to set up a QT tank and treat with meds.

I have several patches from the 10 years I did no maintenance and stopped keeping corals but they have all stayed in small isolated 1-2" patches and never exploded or grow around corals. They've stayed this size for half a decade. I think I could manually remove them but the bumble bee snails sound fun. Ignore the half dead/alive birdsnest (the only coral dinos clung to when I had an outbreak).
