I monitor salinity and pH. I see no need to look
At pH (really ever). I think you need to decide why you want a controller before you invest in a controller. The upgrade is moot if you never upgrade and the upfront cost to go bigger is a waste if you don’t plan on using the features.

Is you goal automation? Monitoring? Just to have a controller? Outline your use case first.

Hydros Start is IP-65 rated, Launch is only IP-30 (dust) rated

start and launch are both IP-30. They use basically the same enclosure minus a few ports.

I'm in the same boat, I am going with the Start because of the drive ports and a/c outlets built into it. Will use it to add heater protection and add the ATO to it also. I am not so much interested in the salinity and PH monitoring
This was the same logic I used to buy the start vs the launch
I am able to use the temp probe and outlet for the heater
I use the drive ports w the small pumps they make to do auto water changes
I also wanted the ph probe and drive ports to run my ca reactor
I also use a power outlet and the skimmer sensor as a safety for my skimmer
