I bought a Hydros Minnow and am having trouble connecting to WiFi

I currently have an XS module (that is working fine). I updated the firmware on the xs and (I guess) the hydros app.

I also have a dedicated TP Link 2.4ghz access point and have connected both my phone and XS (and attempting minnow) also.

I’ve tried unplugging the access point and the Minnow but am still struggling. Any help?

Thanks in advance.

First thing I do when adding to the Collective is to hook it up as a separate unit, update the firmware, then turn off the main Collective, hook the new controller in with a Command Bus cable and Terminator, turn the Collective back on and add the new controller to the Collective.

First question: are you using a wall wart plug, Command Bus cable, and a Command Bus Terminator?

Thanks I haven’t connected the minnow to the xs yet (via wired connection). Is that required? I’m fine without a collective for the moment.

I don't think it's required but it means you have to switch between devices on the Hydros App to see different settings and different inputs/outputs.

You can reach out on their website. They've been very responsive to all of my questions.

@Connor At CoralVue is on Reef2Reef as well so he might pop in and answer you here.

Does it show up as a selection in the screen when you click on the + sign in the upper right of the left menu? If so when you select it and select the wifi channel you want it on and enter the password does it continue? If so then you will have to use the left menu to switch between the Minnow and XS at lest until you get them in a collective together if that is what you want to do.

It’s a breathing reddish purple color
Breathing red is usually a wifi will not connect issue. I would try the setup again since it may have the wrong password since that is easy to get typo errors on entry. If that does not help try moving the Minnow closer to your wifi and see if it will connect that way.

How do I do that if I can’t connect to the minnow itself?
Click the left menu the click the + sign in the upper right of the menu. You have to setup a controller initially on your wifi before you can access it with the app normally.

It’s working finally 😁
Thanks to you both for the help. (Side note- it should tell you when the pw is incorrect).

Question/ if I want to start with 5 mls per day of all for reef, using one dosing pump, how do I program that? The language is confusing for me anyway.

Here is my dosing schedule for All For Reef. I mix my All For Reef at half strength so I have to double the dosing amount but I started doing that back before the Hydros and still do it since I am used to it already. I am dosing 46ml spread out over 4 doses a day. I also do a alkalinity test 4 times a day and a AWC 4 times a day so the testing goes first then the AWC and then the dosing. I am using an X10 dosing pump. The Minnow's slowest speed is 25ml a minute so that is probably the speed you will want. Also with a low dose to start like that you may want to do it in a single dosing time. Not sure if multiple times would work with such a low volume. You can try 2 times to see.

On the password, I did the same thing with 1 or 2 of my Collective, and lights, and SmartPlugs....
