My response was to a vocally self proclaimed “hydros fanboy” (his own words), John. My post speaks for itself. My goal was to get the OP quick attention for her problem, not entertain rhetorical advice about the benefits of their amazing support channels. That you find my response rude is your call.

Product fans are fine, but the constant spin gets old. He may have meant to help, but he put more effort into ignoring context to promote the vendor than he did helping.
Jeff is one of the most helpful people on line when it comes to Hydros. If the OP had filed a support ticket sooner the problem would have been resolved in no time.

You jumped into the thread not to help the OP, but to ignore context and attack me after the fact. Now you’re doubling down to defend Jeff and to fault the OP for seeking help here instead of opening a ticket. What help is that?

My post stands. My goal here was to get the OP quick help and hope the answer benefited others following along, not watch fans white-knight the company or each other. In the future, if you fee the need to attack me over a post, then please use the report button instead. The back and forth is a waste of everyone's time.

I did not ignore the context. I reviewed her screenshots and tried to see if anything looked off. From the info posted, nothing looked wrong. So at that point I could just guess to where the issue might be, which would involve a lot more back and forth. Or direct to her to support where they can use the info provided (user account) and remotely access and pinpoint the issue much easier with less back/forth frustration. It’s hard to debug some issues without the whole picture in front of you, and to be honest the issue Connor found was not something I would’ve thought of.

So your goal of “was to get the OP quick attention for her problem” was also mine as well. Hence why I reviewed her info provided and then suggested the next steps that would address the issue. I was not trying to promote services for promotions sake, but to help a customer.

It seems like you just have an axe to grind

Thanks all. Connor's pointing out that the doser was set to off fixed it. This type of layout is exactly what makes something so obvious, more difficult than it has to be. A doser being off should be glaringly obvious in the tile and it is not. Nor is it mentioned in the set up guides. I think this type of thing is what makes an app like Red Sea so appealing, everything is pretty obvious and easy to identify. Would love to see Hydros do more in that direction.

You still are!
Trying to reframe is rather silly when the posts are right above. You replied to my post directly, quoting it to rhetorically tout their support. I responded accordingly.

You are a self proclaimed fanboy and it was a fanboy motivated post. That’s all. Nothing personal. I think you are helpful and polite and applaud your enthusiasm — I just don’t care to be quoted with pro vendor spin when it adds nothing to the conversation, and we both know that was your intent. I think fanboy behavior damages the credibility of otherwise well meaning and helpful people by adding noise to the conversation.

Ahh, I think that would be John 😀

My honest opinion? I think that Hydros is a mess at many levels. I think that they, GHL and Neptune and many other vendors should put far more effort into direct community engagement here.

I know very little about Hydros and even less about RedSea. I would hope that VC listens to customer feedback, but have my doubts. In general, I think most of the controller vendors (GHL, Neptune, Hydros) could do a better job with software interface design.

I am glad you Connor was able to quickly get you sorted out.
