Okay so not sure if i should post my overflow here or start a new topic so ima start here. Hoping pictures stay in order as they were loaded.... darker green = full prime...... lighter green is water mixed with air white is all air.... the red indicates pump has turned off.....

Great sketch up work! IME, DIY siphon-based overflows can be an adventure. What are you using to turn to pump on and off? Adding a valve on a single primary drain pipe can be problematic.

i have Jebao DCP Sine Wave Water Return Pump a 5000 and a 3500.....they are dc easy to dial in with the controllers and a valve
but the stopping of the water is a power outage, feed mode, working on it doesn't matter the need or reason to stop

i've tested for a year it stops down flowing every time no matter what without failure and restarts every time without a failure i was even using a ball valve and a ac pump to start project (ball valves are dumb i know, very hard, but it worked)

same design can go into a drilled tank too.....

the only failure's this can have is
blockage of some kind to stop down flow..... solution....... pump has to be placed on a stand in sump so the water is not capable of still pumping up enough to overflow display
loss of prime in first section same solution prevents havoc..... but this will be to a bad one way check valve i use the long style check valve because water will fill into chamber and prevent air thru

the blue short style will fail...... the trick is to drill hole slightly bigger for check valve and a air line on the tip this way it is not plastic to plastic connection.

attached are three units i am using on my same punch bowl setup 75220839_2585172588234016_6043306370323709952_n.jpg 76773247_1162917920576228_4320532685102514176_n.jpg 75323326_549358445633110_3202368074489528320_n.jpg 75640665_2810875978963350_8598237678611202048_n.jpg 75291712_465013367705748_2016846290637291520_n.jpg

also sizes the 3500 pump is using 1in pvc overflows x2......the 5000 is using 1.5in pvc overflow overflow method (14).png overflow method (13).png overflow method (12).png
