Just checked on tank this morning and my purple tang has an almost white line scraped on his side. Hard to get a picture right now but doesn’t resemble spots. All my fish were quarantined and had this one for over a year. Yesterday wasn’t there. Now he does swim thru a really tight vertical cave often and does sleep there. I would assume it’s from that? I know answers can’t be given 100% without pics but no other fish have anything at all. Happened overnight, just gets me a little paranoid. I’ll post pics when he moves

Try even a you tube version video but any assessment will be an educated guess and assumption is a scrape which will heal on its own but really need pics to best assess

I know it’s blue light but you can see the vertical scrape line. Did best I could before I change lights to white

Could really be just a scratch, but I would prefer someone with more expertise on fish health to look at it once you manage to get a better image.

This looks to be a tail strike especially if there is another tank present and should heal on its own but keep an eye on area for redness or becoming sore which would require treatment in a separate tank using Seachem Neoplex

It looks like an injury of some type. Either way, I would watch it. If it looks worse or not improving I would transfer to a separate tank and treat with kanaplex. If there is any red showing in the fins, etc - start antibiotics in another tank immediately.

There are other tangs. Definitely some type of scratch whether from rock or tail. It looked better now than this morning when I first noticed it. No other signs or symptoms eating well and everything too. I’ll monitor it for next week

Having many tangs, I know a tail strike when I see one. This clearly represents one

Was probably tail on tail violence. But since he’s a purple I’m sure he had it coming
