I wrote a big whiny post but deleted it cause I was having trouble putting how I am feeling into words.

I guess I just feel kinda burnt out in the hobby ATM. I have had lots of success but some failure as well. I did what I set out to do, keep a reef tank. I have acros growing and ready to frag. . . I also have some maintenance to do and algae to take care of. . . but WHY? I already did the thing. . . I grew the corals I wanted to grow. . . now what. . .

I guess this turned out just as whiny as the first thing I wrote haha but yeah I feel burned out, like maybe I sell everything and try something else. . .

maybe just having a bad day.

I think you are experiencing burnout firsthand. Just about every hobby, people will go through phases of burnout where you are either tired of doing the same thing, tired of not making progress, or tired of putting in the work.

For example. I collect old video games (i know not relavent to reefing but stay with me) It has been a passion of mine for almost 15 years now. Back in high school and throughout my first couple of years at college I was going just about every single day to find something. Most of the time? I would find nothing. This constant state of doing the same thing all the time lead to me getting burned out on it. I rarely go to thrift stores now, as I have taken priority in other hobbies. I like you, even thought about selling parts of my collection. However, there's one thought that always comes back to my mind "Will I regret selling this in a couple years". Just about everytime I think about this, yes, I would regret it. That is why I haven't sold off my collection and why I know one day I will get back into it.

Anyway, to get back to your situation. I wouldn't sell off anything. Maybe rein in how much you are doing to your tank daily. Sell off some corals you no longer want in there, and keep the overall tank. Once you get out of the burnout slump, you will be right back into wanting to do it again. The worst thing you can do is sell everything, then regret it a few months down the road.

Because you have succeed in having a reef every one gets fed up . And people do sell everything but never get what they payed for it. If I was you just feed your tank and go doing other things and you will return to it fresh and ready to carry on.

I’ve been there and still am some days (I get moody). I guess that’s why I ventured into doing a yt channel and 3d printing. Those are reefing adjacent activities that keep me focused on many different things, and helping others. For instance, I can invent anything I want for reefing and try it out on my tanks. It just gives the hobby another dimension for me. Maybe finding a reef related activity can help renew your interest again?
