Sorry for the bump but I have a question.

^^^ This image here. Notice the small piece of yellow finger gorgonian next to the purple gorg. I found it floating around in the bag and just stuck it in the sand.

How can I tell if it is completely dead and won't grow? If a gorgonian dies does it still maintain that yellow base color and the little polyps won't extend? I was thinking of bringing it home to my nano tank but I have no idea if it is alive or not.

If it was dead, it will retain the color for a bit and then begin to lose the flesh/get overgrown with algae.
