The watermelon that I posted a picture of earlier started receding earlier in the year. I took it out multiple times and dipped it, scraped it and put it back in only to have it start again. Finally once it receded back to the original frag I popped it off, dipped it again and put it on a plug on the frag rack. It had recovered thankfully and is getting that beautiful rim again. Kinda scared to move it. LOL

Thanks, I picked it up at a frag show last year. The dealer didn’t know what the name was. The closest thing I can find is a Holy Grail Chalice.

Thank you for sharing. I have never measured par. I have chalices placed at all levels everywhere from near the sand to near the top water line and they all seem to be doing well. I think either the ones i have either tolerate lots of lighting conditions or perhaps chalices simply tolerate more light than we give them credit. I have a couple duplicates in different placement and coloring is effected by the amount of light.

I have found chalices tend not to sting each other with a few exceptions.

This chalice below is pretty enough but it has an unusual and I think unique characteristic. If you look carefully, there are two distinct shades of color in it. I though at first it might be shading causing one half to be darker than the other half but I have rotated it multiple times and given it lots of time to respond yet it remains the same. It is not one of those overly dramatic things like a rainbow, but I still think it is pretty cool to have half of it one shade darker than the other half. In terms of size, I think that is a three inch disk that it is sitting on

I am excited by the responses. Perhaps there is a new found interest in chalices again. There are so many different rich colors available with chalices and unless it is a rainbow, they are reasonably priced most of the time.

I was hoping these two would have gotten along better, but the two of them are the exception. Others in my reef grow together with no fighting.

Chalices that are different species tend to fight and they generally do so with serious intent.

I have pictured below an old school chalice, Purple Urkle. Its the one closest to the sand.
