Although no comments can top REV's advice, I'll add a few thoughts. I rely on two things to keep my mental state postive. The belief that the Lord will not place anything on me that I can't handle and or won't come out the other side better for. Secondly, I don't count on or rely on anyone else for my own mental happiness. I believe we are each responsible for that to ourselfs. People and things are provide temporary gratification. By taking a few minutes out of each day to just look around and count my blessings (family, health, job, a few close friends, warm sunny day, good fishing, fresh clean white snowfall, etc.....) the list is endless, but each and everyone I'm thankful for.
Rambling now, but serving overseas in the military was a real eye-opener. We eat well, have roofs over our heads, creature comforts abound, decent access to medical care, awesome social and entertainment options, etc.... We (you) are part of a blessed nation and it is what you make out of it. For me, my glass stays half full and there is no such thing as "grass is greener on the other side". The pature is what you make of it. Start planting seeds.
