I need a new tank

Im looking for a 125 gallon tank and I want it to have an overflow and be glass and that's about it. I also don't want to buy it used because I had one that I previously bought and it shattered under the pressure and let 125 gallons of saltwater on my wood floors. No price range really I just need some good suggestions

Do you already have stand and supporting equipment? guessing your looking for a standard 6' tank?

If not wanting to go custom, rimless high-end blah blah blah etc.

I would just pop into your local petco/petsmart/LFS. If they don't have one with overflows, probably better anyways because they are big and hurt flow, you could get an aftermarket overflow and drill the tank however you want.

What about a 180g?

If you’re going 6ft long, the 180g only takes up a few more inches of depth and height than a 125, with 50% more volume for stability!

Agreed that drilled overflows work great! — I drilled my 180g in peninsula configuration for a a Shadow overflow years ago and haven’t looked back!

— if I did it again, I’d get a different overflow box than the Synergy Reef Shadow… it’s made of thin injection molded plastic, and mine definitely has several cracks in the exterior box I had to repair after replumbing it to hard PVC…

I really only can have a 125 because of the weight alone. I would have no way to carry it into my house and the price is a lot more extreme

Hmm… understandable! Well, drilling definitely works; though if you’re getting the tank new, you should be able to option drilled holes of just about any size/location!

I do already have a stand and equipment, I am looking for a 6' I dont wan't to do all that fancy stuff correct. I wan't to do an overflow becuase I don't want to have a back full of pipes and different stuff hanging on the back. It will be pushed up against the wall

that is the exact tank I would be looking at. 96x30x25. Would have it custom drilled similar to my current tank for closed loop and better overflow positioning.

how do you like the overflow on the one side?
With the placement of my tank that OF position would work well with my stand and sump.

This has been a great tank, the plumbing with it being on the end was super simple and the pipes are not long at all as the sump is directly under that side in the stand. returns come up through the overflow as well, and with an icecap gyre 4k on the far side and a few on the back wall, the water circulation is perfect for my mixed reef tank.

this is the layout of my current tank with a closed loop, I added a 5th input directly in the center of the length and 10" off the front glass and run a 4400gph pump. all closed loop returns run 2 x3 /4 RFG nozzles. i really wish the overflows on this tank were end mounted. i could redrill and patch but would be an eyesore, and my plumbing is done already.


pictured is also the original idea for my stand, with a cabinet on the end that would block seeing the overflow and act as storage.

I like you canopy/light shade. I think i might do something similar.
