I have a 380 gallon tank and I am trying to figuring out what pumps I will need to handle the flow. I would like to go with the Cor 20 for my return pump as I will be installing the entire Apex system and want the controlability it brings. The problem is my equipment room will be about 40 feet away from my tank and I will have about 5-6 feet of vertical head pressure as well as some 90 and 45 degree elbows and a T.
After some research, I don’t think the Cor 20 will have enough power to accomplish this task. It’s rated at 2000 GPH and up to 20 feet of head pressure and I will have head loss of about 12 feet. I want about 3x turnover which is roughly 900 gallon per hour.
-Can some of you smart and experienced reefers explain the how all this works with head pressure and loss of flow for me?
-Would I be able to run 2 Cor 20 pumps together in tandem and get double the flow which would make it possible to
get the needed flow?
-Would running 1.5 or 2 inch pipe for my return help?
Thanks for your help and advice
