I have a pair of Aqueon 300 watt heaters. One has failed. I want to replace them with a
Finnex 800 watt titanium.

Please share you Finnex product experience.

Thank you.
I use finnex which has never let me down

Finnex does make two external controllers. The gray one is the older one, I find it very reliable. It has an alarm and digital set points. Basic but solid. The black one is the newer model. I don’t know why but I never got it. And on my new build I compare the two side by side and decided to get the gray one because I have it and have not had any issues and I trust it

Meh, BTDT with finnex. Like most heaters, something will usually eat them alive, IIRC the one I had, the temp probe bit the dust on the controller.

I just stick with elcheapo preset heaters now, my wallet doesn't cry when one craps out and I just restock.

300 watts maintains the temp, and is always on. But to get the temperature to come up, I need two.
Ok it works for you thats cool.
Mine comes on at 77 and goes off at 78. 1° swing has always worked well for me and its not always on.

Element only is just the heater. It has a normal 3 prong outlet cord and can be plugged into any temperature controller

That's exactly what I want; something I can plug into my existing controller.

Done!

I ordered (2) Finnex 300 watt titanium heaters. They will plug in to my existing controller and replace the pair of 300 watt Aqueons.

Thank you for all the input!

I'm currently running two 300w digital Finnex titanium heaters that have been in constant use since November 2015. I don't think I'll ever run any other heater.

Yes, I think I will be happy with the performance of the Finnex.

I went with a Helio and wish I went with an Inkbird, Ranco, or Finnex. I had a Ranco controller and a finnex Ti element and they worked perfectly.

To their credit (IM), the product worked very well for three months until it didn’t. After a few weeks of back and forth, IM replaced both the controller and heating element (500w). This was last December. Its been great since then, but I have only marginal confidence right now, but I hope this was a one-off problem. Ask me in a year.

Just realized one of my Finnex 300W heaters went out. Thankfully I have 2 and control them with Apex. I noticed my second heater never shows above 3W and so i started playing with it and realized its shot. Bummer too because it’s just past the 6 month warranty they come with.

I have the basic HMA series with inline analog controller. Is everyone else using a different model series for Finnex?

I use hms with digital inline controller on a 15g and 36g

My 75 and 83g use the standalone 300e titanium element and a finnex external controller

Been using the same Finnex titanium heating element for close to 10 years. They are the only heaters I have used that have any lasting power. Been using finnex for close to 20 years now.

I have 2 spares, just waiting for the first one to die.
