Somehow I spaced my intro...
Hi - my name is Patrick, I'm an old dude trying out all the new tricks in this hobby.
I took a shot at a "nano" 30g over 20 years ago, lucky for me at the time there was such a thing as "LIVE ROCK" the real thing not what they are calling live rock these days. Anyway I truly believe it was because of the live rock that I was so successful back then. I had an insta cycled tank at the time and even used a "wet-dry" trickle filter back in the day....
Well long story short... I've been reading up a storm and speed watching a ton of videos. I have had a build thread going for a couple months now. I appreciate any direction, criticism I have thick skin so set me straight  I can take it as long as u speak from experience and not from a book or regurgitating things read on forums. Well, if u r, I can still take it lol
as u can see I'm stuck in aquascaping mode for almost a month now!

I have also had a 20g nano going for for a while to get the feel for stabilizing parameters again. Almost no filter...
1 micro bubble skimmer made from one of my kids old lightsaber tubes.
2 intank bio media filters N03 w/ microbacter7, carbon, eheim ceramic bio balls.
no sponge no sock no fleece, no dose, no "reactor" etc...
The filters are so small I could easily hide them behind a divider, I leave it all out in the open. I love watching testing monitoring. Snails crawl all over the equipment and clean it up.
so far so good.
Sincerely,
Patrick A

Hi Patrick and Welcome!

Glad you joined and shared. My next stop is your build thread, but no worries from my comments - I believe there are so many RIGHT ways so it usually all works as long as we continue to push thru and try
