Tank is looking great! Really impressed that you anemone settled into the spot you planned for it and stayed there! What's the secret? I have seen so many posts from people commenting how their anemone keeps roaming around and parking in undesirable spots...
The secret is good planning and a little luck. I found the perfect rock for his foot and set the flow and light to his liking. I consider the rock the key though. As soon as I saw it in the LFS I knew he would never move. I actually bought it from one of their invert display tanks. The other two pieces in the tank are from their bins of Pacific rock.

Still loving the 1K gyre. I tried a few different settings and in the end the easiest thing to do was set it to random and let it go. Was 70% max, but now 60% after a deep cleaning. It sits vertical in the back left corner. it maxes around 600 GPH and my dual returns are each about 300 GPH. I feel like the LPS have as much flow as they can handle. the anemone about right and the SPS the minimum. The randomness helps a lot and the gyre and one return are positioned to maximize flow to the SPS.

EDIT: the water volume in the display, for reference, is about 28 gallons. Total system water volume is 35 gallons in what is listed as a 45 gallon AIO.

I've wondered what the display and total water volume were on these JBJ flat panel tanks - perhaps I can extrapolate for the 65gs (51 gallons total, 40 gallons display?)

My tank

45 AIO listed
35.5 gallons actual saltwater (21% less)
28 gallons in the display
7.5 gallons back chambers

back chambers are 4.5” deep.
back chambers are ~1/5 total volume.

JBJ 45 Dimensions
In post 28 I detailed the dimensions of the JBJ 30. I felt it was hard to find this info while searching for aquariums. I also found the JBJ 30 dimensions had changed over time and speculated the changes were to make a better fit for specific equipment.

Since I did it before, I guess I have to do it again. Information on the JBJ 45 dimensions were even harder to find. I found one post on N-R that had good basic info and that was it. Here I am posting a top down and back view diagram. I hope someone will find this useful in future searches.

In all cases the measurements are glass to glass or baffle and does not include any glass or baffle. In other words, the dimensions are all made for actual water volume. Te return holes are 4” apart and 1” in diameter. The waterline in the display and first chambers (16 7/8") is based on the dual overflow grates. The Chamber 2 and 3 return level will be about 15 7/8". Total volume is 37.5 gallons.

Bookmarked this post - hope to find similar information for the 65g!

Give that crab a raise working ot! Another nice eye candy shot
Yeah, he can have anything he wants if he eats the bubble algae. He has been eating it all along, just never saw him actually doing it.

Have a couple of issues. First I had some nasties pop up in the back under the gyre.

Also considering what to do about my beloved Caulastrea. I rotated the rock recently for a better viewing angle. The anemone is now touching it regularly. Rotating the rock back would not help at this point.

Another issue is Alkalinity. Right now it is 7 dKH. My target is 8.5 dKH, but it is hard to hold there. I cannot believe I am currently using 32 ml per day to hold steady (35 gallons water volume). That is 1.3 dKH of use daily in my tank of small pieces. Just seems like a lot to me. I would like to get it back into the 8s, but every time I raise the dose to slowly get it up I end up only compensating for increased demand. I do not want to spike it.

Lastly here are a couple of pictures that remind me all of these issues above are minor and the tank is actually doing very well

Is it possible that precipitation is a factor with the alklinity?

I just now split the dose to 12 times a day from 4. Did not feel I could increase at the current dose for that reason.

I see no precipitation at all. Alkalinity and Calcium doses are always split up. Now they alternate every hour. I use LiveAquaria salt and it is consistent. The numbers are where I want them (Magnesium seems high). I do a 10% water change every 2 weeks. Between coralline and corals, it is all possible. I am just amazed how strong the demand is growing.
