It works. Just finishing my last clip on the printer and I’ll have it running.

Edit. Got it all together. Fits perfectly.

Can confirm as well. Design and internals of the NP are exactly the same.

Threw the original posters file in Fusion 360 and worked some magic myself. Basically just merging two bodies into one and slicing off some extra unneeded walls and empty space.

Care to share? I should have thought of that. It would also be nice with a little tray to organize all of the reagents.

Nice conjoined housing!

Would be awesome if you shared the model.

Anyone know if combining the wastes lines into on waste container would be safe? Or not?

I made one just now based off the original design. PM me and I can email you the STL.

Sorry folks, been dealing with some health issues and havent gotten back around to monitoring my posts on there. If anyone is in need of the STL, please just shoot me a PM and I'll get ya hooked up.

Was hoping I could get a stacked reagent bottle look but due to the length of tubing, it just didnt allow for it. I do have a basic tray though for holding the reagents.

It’s not a lot of filament, imo. Less than a half a spool. I’m gonna print another for my other Trident, I’ll post what the estimate is. I think I used 30% infill. No supports.
I used 15% infill on mine, seems to be good to go.

I just bought a trident a week ago, and the noise the thing makes is absolutely killing me. I live in a 1 bedroom apartment with my 25gal lagoon in the living room. I custom built a solid stand out of 3/4 marine grade plywood and have the trident in the stand, and still wake up at midnight with ringing ears from the 2400-3000hz motor sound, even with the bedroom door closed. I immediately printed this housing to help seal it up, set the wall thickness to 4 so its almost 100% infill, and it definitely helps. I'm considering re-doing it without the vent at the back and logo hole in the front to see if that helps contain the noise further, if I do that I might also re-arrange the internals to make the whole enclosure a bit shorter and wider and really optimize space in there.

I had a few thoughts though on the trident and this thread seems likely to contain a number of similarly mechanically minded reefers so I wanted to bounce some ideas around here. The new Quiet Drive DOS got me wondering about what exactly they changed, (if anyone has a DOS and a DOS QD that they're willing to open up, I'd be super curious) My guess is some combination of:
-higher quality stepper motors
-higher quality (properly tuned) driver for the motors
-different programming to minimize resonance of stepping
-different pump heads

And it got me thinking about if I might be able to replace the motor of my trident with a quiet one. My guess is they simply cut corners on the original design, going for the cheapest stepper motor and driver combination they could, which obviously results in some serious resonance at the step rate they're using. A sine wave driver would likely substantially quiet things down. I was thinking they might come out with a QD variant of the trident, but when they released the NP trident and it uses the exact same internals, I lost faith in that idea.

I might see what I can scrounge up from further research, and start a new thread if I decide to actually figure out a mod to make it silent, the hard part will be matching it perfectly without having access to re-program the trident itself.
