I just received my first order of fish from Algae Barn. The website was very convincing, so I pulled the trigger on two Goldline Rabbitfish, and awaited the arrival of these “active, attractive [and] ravenous” fish. Here’s the rub: They are advertised as “Purchase Size: ~3” (length)”.

I know it might be hard to see from my photo, but if I consider them to be a hair’s breath beyond 1”, I would be being generous. (If they look like small Damsel size, they’re not. So imagine how tiny their mouths are— good thing I have not only brine, but “baby” brine on hand.)

I have a little experience, but if I manage to grow these things out to display tank size I’ll probably deserve some sort of an award. Anyway, ‘about 3” ‘ would have been worth the $100 per fish (shipped price). But these Mini Micro Fish? Wish me the best.

Hi there! We just got off the phone with Biota to ask them about their sizes that they ship out. They informed us that they are now shipping smaller (from 3" now to 1") as they had more requests for smaller rabbitfish. We do apologize for the inconvenience as we were not aware of the sizing change (since they are drop shipped) and we are going to update it correctly on our website. If you would please inbox us and send us your PodPoint account email we would like to give you some store credit for the inconvenience! :)

Good news— I ‘babied The babies’ day by day, and each is now in a 150-gallon tank with some big boys— like an adult Clown Trigger, Emperor Angel, French Angel, etc. They aren’t 2” yet, but I suppose the ability to raise their spines is keeping them from getting messed with/picked on.

Here’s an update— the boys are housed together in a 150-gal. and are getting big and doing well. :)
