Ich on CBB?

I would probably mix up a test batch of SW and measure out exactly 1 gallon then add Copper safe as directed using a syringe. Then test the water to check your Hanna Tester for accuracy.

Me... the way I roll... (), based on all that you've said, and what I see after 21 days, I'd get the Copper back to where you had it at 2.5-2.7 and go enjoy your short vacation. Best wishes for great success with your beautiful fish.

Not a bad idea. I just checked the now empty QT tank and it’s still showing 2.25 despite it being empty for a few days now.

Not a bad idea to calibrate the Hanna.

Unfortunately I added him to the DT after 28 days. So no going back into QT at this point unless I bring the whole display. All those spots popped up after a few days in the DT without any medication.

So finished out QT. The two spots I was worried about never expanded in number. However within 3 days of being in the DT he looks like this. Looks pretty firmly like ich to me .

I don’t know how he didn’t show any symptoms for 21 days in therapeutic copper, and the only symptoms were two questionable dots then nothing more. This is really unfortunate. I’m 100% positive I maintained therapeutic copper at a minimum of 2.35 mg/l. More typically it was at 2.5 mg/l. There were no other fish or additions during his QT process. No cross contamination. Nothing.

This now will be the second QT break through I’ve dealt with. First one was velvet that snuck through (that one was probably more so on me) but still. A 72 day fallow period is not fun nor do I know that I can pull it off with space.

The spots are only on the clear portion of the fins. Nothing on the body but looks pretty clearly like ich to me. No other symptoms and still eating well. Haven’t noticed anything on any other tank mates yet.

That last photo is pretty clearly ich. Here is a thought though - with only 3 days in the DT, it would be just like a stage in the "Tank Transfer method" and there wouldn't be any tomonts to cause this much of an influx of ich.

When you move a fish with ich into a clean tank, the ich life cycle is set back quite a bit and it takes time to get this many spots again (two or more cycles). That means that these spots aren't ich, or that these trophonts came from tomonts that were already in your DT.

That last photo is pretty clearly ich. Here is a thought though - with only 3 days in the DT, it would be just like a stage in the "Tank Transfer method" and there wouldn't be any tomonts to cause this much of an influx of ich.

I did however add three fish from an online vendor who quarantines. Not blaming them, but there were three additions that I did not personally QT. Could have possibly come in that way. Those additions were made one week prior to the CBB being added.

I do have some PCR kits from DxAquaria. Im not sure how much stock I put into their precision, but would at least make for a fun opportunity to run a test and see what type of data I get back knowing I have a likely ich break-through in my display.

I have noticed some spots on my white tail bristle tooth today. But none of the fish that came in showed any spots. Nor do any of them currently.

No other fish have any signs, but pretty clear it’s ich and will need to pull everyone.

Lost the CBB. His appetite had gone and I had my gig get caught in a power head. I changed to flow pattern and he moved on me. The gig is going to be ok (I think). He only got caught on a small edge. No foot or mouth damage. But I’m curious if the scenario may have caused bacterial issues? The CBB had brown/black on him within an hour post mortem (didn’t think to take a picture) and now my white tail looks like this. His breathing seems ok, but mouth is open and swollen a bit, both eyes cloudy and his pectoral fins are rotting. It feels like he’s got a pretty bad case and likely too far gone.

All fish have been pulled to QT at this point.

Yes - try a FW dip to screen for Neobenedenia. There is something else going on here - if this fish had no ich spots 3 days ago, it wouldn’t look this sick now.

Nothing came off in the freshwater dip. My theory is that the ich was there but not the cause of death. My guess is that there was a bacterial infection going on. The Kole tang has some nasty fin rot on his pectoral fins, brown filmy gunk on his face and super clowdy eyes. This morning I gave him a 90 minute Reef Rally Pro bath and he seemed to response really well througout the bath and afterwards. Hopefully he's still going strong when I get home and eats a little.

How many days consecutively should I do Reef Rally Pro dips? I’m on day 2 going into day 3. He has improved significantly in the last 24 hours. Fairly active again, eating. His right eye has healed up and no longer cloudy. His left eye is still pretty cloudy and vision seems to be impacted, but it’s much better today. His overall body coloration seems to be back to normal (mostly). His face is beat up but now it looks like yellow whereas yesterday it was brown and looked like his face was sloughing off. The fin rot on the pectoral seems to have run its course. They’re stubby little fins now but look like they’ve stopped getting worse.

All in all he’s a trooper. From what I’ve seen my thoughts were 5-7 days of Reef Rally Pro baths. Seem right or is there another recommendation?

Sorry, I've never done an extended dip treatment with Rally Pro. Based on its ingredients, you can go 5 days for sure......
