I started a tank 6 weeks ago with live rock from Indonesia.
Some halimeda is growing slowly, and one macroalgae growing very fast (1 cm per week). I have not been able to ID it. It's a teal color.
Help would be very much appreciated!
It's indeed the large one in the middle. It looks like red razor, except the color is teal. According to gbif.org bryothamnion triquetrum doesn't occur in the Indo-Pacific. Could it be something else?
You're right. Unless it hitchhiked from Florida, it could be something else. It has a sawfish pattern. You might try a search at INaturalist to see if you could search by community of Indonesia and species algae.
I haven't chimed in on R2R in ages, but the algae in the center of the pic is Acanthophora spicifera. It has a a nearly circumglobal distribution in all the tropical and subtropical waters but originally hails from the Pacific.
