Could someone tell me what they think this coral is. It's purple with orange specs.The frag is about the size of a quarter.

Do you have a better photo of it? My guess is either Cycloseris exanulata or Pavona explanulata

Have you checked out Tidal Gardens? He has a wealth of informative videos on many different types of corals.

I’m leaning toward leptastrea

Have you checked out Tidal Gardens? He has a wealth of informative videos on many different types of corals.
Note that this coral is thamnasteroid, while Leptastrea is cerioid/plocoid.

What do those terms mean?
thamnasteroid is basically when the thecae thicken to the point of becoming the coenosteum, and the septa are confluent (septo-costae), sorta like Pavona or Leptoseris. Plocoid is when the corallites each have their own separate thecae but shared coenosteum, sorta like Dipsastraea (Favia) or Cyphastrea. Cerioid is when the corallites share thecae, similar to (most) Favites or (most) Coelastrea.
