Hey guys I scored this free zoa frag from an lfs during there big black Friday sale and I was curious if anybody happened to know the name of it. It has a greenish/yellow mouth with the same color on the tips of the skirts. The rest of the zoa is like a grayish blue. Its nothing fancy but if I could have a name to go with it that'd be a plus.

Any chance you have a more defined picture of it?

No they definitely aren't as nice as those. Probably just some basic zoas that'll spread like wildfire lol

Agreed, need a better pic. But they look like some real beauties! Turn your whites on a little more or take a pic through an orange lens for the best results

For a basic green/grey zoa with that nebula pattern, look at the Hawaiian types. Ding dang, hawaiian people eater, etc :)

There's still a lot of blues as my whites haven't peaked yet but I was able to get much clearer pictures and this is pretty much what I see aside from the yellowish green tips on the skirts not being as vibrant in the pics.

They do look similar to the ding dang but I feel like there may be some color lacking to be considered them.

Ding Dangs are pretty much any green/grey Hawaiian zoa with a nebula pattern :). It’s like how “Fire and ice” is just a blue zoa with a red skirt

I get stuff I like. Now I will admit,I got 2 frags of sticker shocks because well they were $10 for 2 polyps and well they don't look great to me,when they grow out and I sell them I can make my money back ‍lol.

I just don't see hoe these are $100 a polyp..

I completely understand what you mean. Its just so hard not getting sucked into the black hole of fancy corals and names. I would gladly pay 10 bucks for 2 polyps of them sticker shocks. When they grow out let me know when your ready to sell some off and what your asking.

I agree with both of y’all! All I use the names for is identification, it’s much easier to say “Ding Dang” than it is to say “greenish grey with maybe blue and some speckling and a black bow tie mark in the middle”. I don’t understand why zoas are more than $100 per polyp, I feel like that’s ridiculous. Especially as the morph gets more common (like how I see GMK, LSOH, Aphrodite, etc sold almost on a weekly basis) I don’t know how they manage to retain their crazy high prices. You’d think that as more and more people obtain and start selling them, the price would come down due to supply and demand as well as competition between the sellers. There are a couple of places where you can get fantastic deals, my favorite being the R2R marketplace.

To sum up, buy what you think is pretty. If it’s got a crazy price tag, there’s more than likely a similar looking zoa that’s much cheaper because people pay for a name instead of the color/pattern. :)
