What's Eric's1975 fish? I had a dottyback with the same sort of markings but in reverse years ago. He had a real bad attitude. I think it was a Howson's Dottyback but had a really bright orange/pink head

So is it a wrasse or a dottyback? The LFS people didn't know what it is either. They said it's a dampier wrasse but a quick search on my phone tells me it isn't but it's so pretty so I just bought it anyway:)

I think I found the ID for it. It's a Firetail Dottyback!

Pic online of a Firetail dottyback. The dotted blue line is more defined on this specimen but I can see those lines are forming on mine just not as defined

Never seen that one before! There are some really nice looking dottybacks but they're jerks. I've had a few and the orchid was the chillest, but still ended up a terror in the end. Best of luck that a awesome dottyback!

Thanks! Dottyback are very territorial but he's going into my 600 gal fish only tank and there are some bossy inhabitants there already lol namely my clown trigger and my b**ching moorish idol!

One of the crankiest dottybacks and gets big too, I have seen some pushing 6" that beat up triggers and other large fish. 600g of mean fish is about right for him though. Females look very different if I remember right. Off the top of my head should be in the genus Cypho.
