Hi all, I’ve had a favia coral that I put in its place when I was very new to reefkeeping and has since grow over it’s frag plug and onto the rock. It is now stinging and killing the acan and acro nearby and I want to remove it from the rock. Any ideas with how to best remove this off of the live rock without having to take it out/chisel it off?

Tile saw or chisel is your best bet I'm afraid. You can try breaking it off with your hands, but probably going to do some damage that way and no guarantee its coming off when its grown onto the rock like that.

If you can get a small flat head screwdriver or something similar under it it might just pop off the rock. Just be careful though.

Thanks all. Ended up taking it out and chiseling with a flathead screwdriver-got him off but ended up breaking the rock more than I wanted which caused a whole re org of the tank. At least now there is no warfare going on!
