I recently set up a new system and made sure to save some space for a mini fridge autodoser. I was wondering what else to dose. If you could dose any thing that needs refrigerated what would it be.

so far I have rinsed out brine shrimp to feed the fish, Acropower, and all the brine shrimp juice to dose at night for my coral.

any ideas.

Nice!!! Options could include Red Sea AB+ as well as several of the Reef Nutrition refrigerated foods.

Nice! If I had one of these I would do small batches of my frozen food (thawed of course) and like @Peace River mentioned the refrigerator Reef Nutrition foods. I just bought their bottle of Pac Pods. My tank loves these (fish and corals).

I’ve had the doser feeding the tank like this 9 times a day (about 30ml of thawed food a dose). Fish seem to like it. I’ll check out the reef nutrition stuff. Thanks.
Very cool! I will have to check this out. Having said that I love sticking my hand in my tank to feed everyone. It makes me feel connected to my tank. I would miss that. LOL

Without a doubt phyto. Though kind of a pain still cause would have to take it out to shake frequently unless you set it up with aitostirrer.

I also dose seachem reef plus so would use if for that as it supposed to be refrigerated after certain amount of time of being open

Was looking at culturing phyto, seems like another “thing” (hobby within the hobby”. Can pick up those magnetic stirrers of Amazon pretty cheap nowadays. I’ll have a closer look.

Do any of you have any advice for things to dose (other then nitrate itself) that raises nitrate more then phosphate. My sulphur denitrator is sucking out the nitrate like crazy and would like to find a balance with it through feeding.

I have bumped up the acropower up to 25 ml a day as I hear it’s a good source of nitrate.

I might have to just pump in some nitrate to keep the denitrator running without creating H2S.

nitrates are closing in on zero even with a crazy amount of food going into the tank.

I would 100% Bose phyto and redsea ab+. But would never be able to stick a mini fridge next to the tank. Don’t think the wife would be to excited about that

I would dose phyto, although the utility in having a mini fridge auto doser isn't too helpful for something as basic as that. Takes once a day or every other day to pour a bit in and be done. Almost takes more work to maintain the dosing line outside the fridge from rotting. I would imagine the utility really shines for taking vacations and time away from the tank. Dosing thawed frozen food then would be awesome.

My mini fridge matches the tank so it looks like it’s part of it.

kinda blends in.

I think my “one thing” that needs to be with the tank is it needs to be able to be completely ignored for a week. Nothing can be added to it that needs daily attention. Work and life gets too busy to maintain the reef daily. So an auto feeder for frozen food and coral nutrition makes a ton of sense for me.

Right now my refrigerated dosing system doses Red Sea ab+, home made phyto, and mb7
I use magnetic stirring for all them
