Hey guys, I was meaning to start a build thread, but I was in too much a hurry to start up everything tht I didn't really document it all. Anyways, here are a few pics of the changes tht happened on my tank up til now.

Rimless 9g held mixed frags from WWC until cycling on the 14g was finished.

Currently has pukani LR that I am almost done with curing, which is to be transferred into the 14g for more LR real estate.

Added chaeto (extremely hard to come by in socal for some reason) to the middle compartment with a diy horticultural led strip from amazon which I will post later.

Diatom seems to be from not cleaning filter sock as it was neglected for almost 2 months.

Anyways, thats all for now. Hope everyone is having a merry christmas!

I don't know if this will make an impact on the tank since the ratio between the fuge and display portion is 1:11, but we will see how it does.

I dont think theres a golden number that we should look for but i would say bigger the better? Also need to take into consideration the lighting since the fuge needs to compete with whatever lights your main display. I was gone for 13 days after this pic and it has grown to fill out the tank and my display is quite clean at the moment so i think it's making an impact.

I have the IM 20g Peninsula with chaeto in my second chamber and have seen it work really well. I’ve had untraceable nitrates and phosphates (salifert test) since running it. Definitely worth it IMO. Nice tank btw!

What ratio is suggested?

I havent tested parameters yet but i can definately notice my sand bed in display being much cleaner. I was gone for 13 days so the change was pretty noticeable when i got back. Will test as soon as i have time.

What is the lighting used?
Have you tested parameters?

Probably the light. XHO mixed Reefbrite

Negative on testing. Change 5 gallons a week, don't dose, and skim heavy. Light bioload so I feed heavy as well. I'll have to start tracking params soon, as I'll only be able to get so far with out dosing, tanks stocked coral wise.

I have good and bad news.

The good news is a new addition to the tank which is an eclectus mushroom from an awesome seller on R2R REEFIN4LIFE [emoji106] [emoji106] its been about 2 hours since I dropped it in.

Bad news is I have a growing bubble algae. I dont want emerald crabs in my tank especially after my peppermint shrimps going after my acans, I don't want to risk another disaster. No fish will fit in my tank that can handle the bubble as well since its only a 14g. If anyone has suggestions Please send them my way [emoji120]

Hi, if you can, remove the rock or frag manually remove as much of the algae as you can out of the tank (as you dont want the bubbles popping in your tank) and squirt some hydrogen peroxide on the bubble algae area. You should notice it dieing over the couple days.

Update!
Long overdue.

Skimming in second chamber with cheeto growing in the first chamber using intank media basket. Started dosing tropic marin all for reef. 25% weekly water change wasn't keeping up with Alkalinity consumption. Mushroom basket added. Coral stock is mainly LPS and softies. Going to focus on growing out old school chalices and zoa garden. Need to remove green palys, growing like weed.

Been plucking away at the green palys being extra careful. Dosing 1ml of tropic marin all for reef maintaining 7.8 dkh. Testing daily with red sea. 2.5ml of fuel and equal part acro power weekly.

Tank looks great, I’m presently deciding whether to go for a refungium or not on my 14g, I’ve read they are hard to keep clean in a AIO tank? How do you find the maintenance on yours?

it’s not so much I’m afraid of putting in the work needed, I just don’t want to create a place that will trap waste.
I’m not having a skimmer, so would use the first compartment for a media basket, with floss and chemipure and the middle for the refungium using the IM basket and the last for the return and heater?

Thank you! The only thing I find hard is draining all the gunk out when I do clean the chamber, but other than that, it's not too bad. A scraper with long handle works well. Honestly I let even the other algae that find their way in their grow out since they all help in outcompeting anything in the display tank. I used to use chemipure nano packets religiously alongside fuge and skimmed a few days of the week after heavy feeding, but found it hard to keep the chaeto growing. Once I stopped using chemipure, chaeto growth blasted off since their was higher nutes. The filter floss keeps things from "building up" in the space and I have tons of pods growing so it's a plus for me. The middle chamber flows bottom-up so a media basket/IM basket might not work properly. I think if you go mechanical, ditch the fuge or if you go fuge, go light on mechanical.

Put some Joe's juice on it(the stuff for killing pest anemones) and just leave it on it. This has worked for me in the past. Avoid the zoanthids with it.

Rescaped over the long weekend. Alk is constant at 9.1dkh after bring down dosing amount to .8ml/day using All for Reef. If anyone has recommendations on removing pest stat palythoas please fill me in. I'm about ready to remove the rock and replace it with marco rock. :[
