Hey everyone! First time posting here. Setting up my first saltwater tank and wanted some advice. The tank is the 15 gallon Innovate Marine cube AIO. Currently have the Nero 3 wave maker and the 130gph return pump the tank came with. Would y'all reccomend getting the Mighty Jet 326 as a replacement return pump? Or will I be alright with the 130gph pump given I have the nero? Definitely plan to keep a variety of corals so im willing to upgrade if that's the right move. Additionally any advice on wave maker placement in this tank?

Thanks in advance!!

That's exactly what I would do. I really like the MightyJet. I put a Hygger wavemaker on the return side lower in the tank because that's what works with my scape.
The return nozzel is turned slightly upward to cause surface aggitation and prevent surface film.

Congrats on your new tank.

:-)

Welcome, also from Roanoke! I would go with the Mighty jet and an RFG
Oh nice! Who do you use for your LFS? I got everything from Unlimited Aquariums in Danville from a friend's suggestion and he was really solid and helpful.

Same, Justin is a great guy! You may find all you need is the RFG and Mighty jet since the tank is so small depending on what corals and placement you go with.

I run a Sicci 0.5 in my IM15. I use a Jebao ow-10 for in tank flow. The ow works well for this small system. Tank is only a few days old.

Well now I have a little decision to make lol. I was set on the nero 3 given the price of an mp10 is a little out of my price range. But I just found out someone local has one that was used once and realized the tank glass was too thick for it and is selling it for $300. At that point should I go for the mp-10 given its only $100 more?

Take a look at the Jebao dmp's if you want to save $'s. They are mp clones and I run a dmp 20 on my rs170 35g system. They are only $100ish.

I prefer the Nero 3 on this tank. This is how I have mine placed, the "dry" side magnet on the Nero 3 can be placed in the return chamber -

Ah that's fair, definitely looks really clean having it against the black back wall. Don't reallt notice the wire with that. Also that's a really cool scape!

If you go for the mp10 you won’t be able to use many of the modes as they only kick in when the power is upwards of 30/40%, you just get constant mode till then.

As for the return, if your present return is quiet, stick with that as getting a quiet return in a small tank is not easy, with your present return and the Nero you have more than enough flow…if you decide to go for the other options it will be for cosmetic reasons and not for any improvements you would achieve with spending the extra money.

The list of stuff you need when starting out never seems to end, if you are nearly at the end of that list and have a few spare $$$ go for it, if not save your money and use it on other stuff you need.

Those are really good points. Thank you!
