Working on a better water bridge... acrylic and plexiglass suck to cut and work with using basic tools.
SeaFeverH2O:

Are you using a pump to move water between the two tanks? Does the water bridge handle significant water movement and quickly? I have seen these in more passive applications and am unsure if a water bridge can effectively move water between the tanks at a fairly rapid rate?

I have three tanks that all have return pumps and overflows to a shared sump. New Tank 4 (45g) will be far from the sump so I am considering a water bridge approach between Tank 3 (45g) and new Tank 4 (45g). (I am open to what you are using and even having two or three of them if needed).

Considering having a pump from the sump to new Tank 4, but then return it via water bridge to Tank 3 and let Tank 3's overflow take it from there back to the sump.
