I'm confused !!!! Pump question

It's a standard corner overflow, the standpipe is almost to the top of the overflow, my other thought is my drain tees off at the sump to feed my fuge, I may remove that and feed the fuge from the return line instead

We'll after all that it may have just been restriction from the overflow teeth. While they didn't looked unobstructed there was actually maybe an 1/8 inch of coralline algae crust at the top and bottom of each opening time's 20 and that made a big difference. After clearing each one the tank water level dropped, allowing me to open up the return a little more.

Ya, I have a round bristle brush i use to scour the teeth out about once a month or the corraline really builds up. I used to have zoanthids on my overflow and most of the back wall and that was realy a pain, I would frag the area around the teeth a couple times a month.
