Ok I went to my local fish store and they had a wheelers goby that was paired to what they said was a curly cue pistol shrimp. I wanted them but didn't have my qt tank set up yet. I got it setup went to get them and when she removed the rock they went crazy, obously. she got the goby but we couldn't find the shrimp. It was in a small tank that most stores have for supper small fish or inverts. She removed the only rock and moved the sand around and nothing. The tank had slits so water could flow into the next tank. We found another pistol shrimp in a tank a few spots down. We thought maybe he slipped though and went down but Idk because when I looked at him he looked way different that the one I saw just before we went to get them out. I only couldn't get a glimpse of him right before we went to get him but a week before I did get a crappy pic but they look way different to me. Am I crazy? Are they different or is my mind messing with me. The clear pic is of when I got him home.

Looks different to me.
Yeah I swear it's different but we couldn't find the one to save our life. We don't think it managed to jump out or anything as we didn't see anything on the ground or in another tank. It just making me loose my mind because I keep telling myself it's different but can prove it as we can't find it ha

I was tearing down an old tank and had a starry blenny that I couldn’t find. A day later I found him dead in a crevice of a piece of rock that I took out. They can pull themselves into really small places.

That's no good. I'm going to go back again and see if we can find him or he showed back up. I just want to keep then together and they were already buddies.

The pistol in your first pic with the goby is a candy pistol (Alpheus randalli) which naturally pair with gobies. The pistol in the other pics is a curlique pistol (Alpheus armatus) and does not pair with gobies. While I have had no issues with my curlique pistol being in the same tank as my candy pistol and shrimp gobies, others have supposedly had them kill small gobies/other pistol shrimp.

Depending on the size of your tank, I would attempt to keep both pistols. Mine seem to get along fine in my 4' 75 gallon tank, staying on opposite ends.

My tank is only a 20g nuvo. I did decide to return him for a tiger pistol they had. If my tank as bigger I probably would ha e just kept him. To this day we have no idea where the origional shrimp that was paired to that goby went. It just vanished ha
