So my entire life I've wanted a marine aquarium. I grew up with a lot of freshwater fish, but I always dreamed of having a beautiful reef tank. Finally, at 54 years old, I'm finally going to do it. I've got my parts list, got the approval from the wife, and I'm ready to buy!

Anyone else get nervous when you actually got to the point when you're ready to swipe that credit card? 😁

I am 70 and went from fresh to saltwater 10 years ago. Don’t impulse buy, take it slow and only change one thing at a time when you’re not sure.

I’m
I've had that same advice from others, and I'm definitely going to take everything extremely slow. Nothing good comes fast in this hobby, as I've also learned!

Shout out to Funky Town! :)

You should just go for it honestly. It's a lot of work and a lot to learn, but I think it's a bunch of fun! I like to plan, and I have to think a lot before I click the button too. The hobby is pretty expensive, but just stick to a budget that works for you.

What brand tank are you looking at?
Planet Aquarium, out of Grand Prairie, TX. I'm buying it through Dallas North Aquarium. They had the best deal on the tank, stand, and canopy. I would have gone Waterbox or IM, but my wife wanted something more like what we got with this setup.

I own a business so I’m use to dealing with disgusting numbers. So that part was easy. The hard part was waiting for it all to come. Welcome to the salty side! You’ll have ups and downs, just remember nothing good happens instantly.

Welcome to the salty side! I don’t think you’ll regret it. :)

I usually try to swipe cards from the tables at restaurants, but I don't do it unless I know I am not being watched. 😂

Seriously, I only get nervous until she has given approval. You got that already, so go get it!

I had a tank that I started in the mid nineties for 16 years just jumped back in 2021 at 54yo and haven’t regretted it since. I actually think I enjoy it more because I have more time for it since my kids are grown.

That's one of the main reasons I waited until now. Both of my girls are grown, and they're actually as excited about it as I am.
