I will say the few times I did watch it. It was neat seeing some of the more “creative” tanks they made for people.

I watch the show when I can't sleep lol :)

Yes, some of the builds are wild. My one thought is that they never go back and show you the tanks weeks or months after they build them. I'm assuming their service includes all the maintenance to keep these tanks as squeaky clean as the day they are setup? I'd hate to see one after it's been *neglected* for a few months......

They actually had an episode of them going back to look how their older builds hold up.
But yes, a lot of these builds did not last long eventually.

Not their own service, but they did contract other local maintenance companies from what I remember.

I would genuinely be very interested in the episode where they revisit some of their builds :)

Actually, one of my local shops worked with the Tanked crew on a build, I am not sure what they actually did, but maybe they did the after show maintenance?

While their tank designs are really cool, I think the biggest issue people have is how the livestock is treated. I don't know the logistics behind it but the argument is that they add them straight to the tank (presumably) without any cycling, they mix and match with no thoughts on compatibility, and some of the tanks are made in a way that could extremely stress out the livestock (the skateboard ramp tank)

An argument could be made that it's exploitive, but I guess we don't really know if/how they cycle or fish loses or any of the other *details*.

I don't have access to any streaming service that has it to verify this, but from the title names - looks like a few episodes on season 8 should show some of their older builds.

But there is also this video on YouTube with Brett.

They often worked with local shops, at least for sourcing saltwater rather than shipping it to remote locations.
And yes, I assume the same shops were probably also providing the maintenance service afterwards.

Brett actually talked about this after the show (and business itself) ended.
He explained that they stocked the tanks temporarily for the show, but after the cameras shut off they took it out and sent the live stock to quarantine while the tank is getting cycled.
Wether this is true or not - I have no idea, could possibly be a cover up on how messed up it was in practice.

Still seems super stressful to the livestock to do it that way too

Yes, I 100% agree on that.
However, I guess it isn't any different than what fish are going through between getting caught in the sea till they make it to your aquarium at home. They usually go through multiple suppliers during this process, and this temporary stocking could count as yet another hop in their miserable journey.

The skateboard one is stupid... even if you ignore the stress it would cause to the fish. The fact is the skateboard wheels are going to pick up small bits of dirt and debris and just scratch the crap out of the acrylic.

I would hope it is just for show and not actual use other than the one stunt for the video.

It was entertaining to say the least. Some parts far fetched and those Parrots were the beginning of their downfall. I made it a point to watch all episodes and was fortunate to meet the guys of the show and bought some of their resin pieces at a great discount

I watched it only because there weren't a ton of tv that showcased our hobby....pretty much Tanked and Fish Tang Kings. The fake drama and acting was horrible.....I watched it strictly for the visits to the fish store lol. On a side note, several of the Tanked tanks are here in Ohio at the Ohio Fish Rescue including the Dwight Howard snake tank (currently empty and for sale) and the two large Bellagio tanks (filled with Cichlids).
