Why is pH important?

pH levels directly influence the overall water chemistry, affecting the biological processes and the well-being of your aquatic life. Fluctuations in pH can lead to stress, disease, and even mortality in fish, corals, and other aquatic organisms. By regularly testing pH, you can ensure a stable and suitable environment for your aquatic pets. The optimal pH range for reef aquariums is typically between 8.1 and 8.4, and the optimal pH range for freshwater aquariums is typically between 6.5 and 7.5.

You both right and wrong.

Yes, pH is important.

No, you almost never need to test for it once the system is running.
