Does anyone have any ideas on how I can improve my filtration in the first chamber? At the moment i just have a filter sponge in the first chamber

What brand of AIO tank do you have?

There's a few types of filtration? Are you thinking about chemical filtration like charcoal? Mechanical filtration as in more floss or sponge, a medium that traps particulate waste. Biology filtration such as rock rubble?

Common items placed in media baskets are: Chemipure, Biospheres, Charcoal.

I should have been more specific. So I have media baskets with carbon and media in but my first chamber just has a sponge that isn’t the most efficient. I’m currently battling ulva algae so want to increase efficiency on nutrient export.

My tank is an aquaone nano reef 80 and nothing seems to work well it so I was planning on cutting a small chunk of my sponge and putting a sock on top of that? That’s all I could think of. I have tried looking for filter cups to put floss in but nothing seems to work with holders or sizes.
