Had a little guy make the leap into the overflow yesterday. Today, the little adventurer rode the pipe and into the sump, which should be the best outcome for a rescue. But... how the heck do you get him out of this? Eshopps sump. Does this thing come apart? If so, I'm not seeing how.

Do the red pipes come out of the bulkhead fitting or are they glued in?

You know what... looks like a hex fitting. Had to get lower to look underneath. See if that works (can't imagine why it wouldn't)
Thanks

That hex fitting holds the bulkhead to the sump, not the pipe into the bulkhead. if the top pipe is glued in it wont move. Best bet see if the red bottom pipes come out and then you'll have more room to catch him

I had a Springer Damsel jump into my overflow a few years back. Was a b!?€# to get him out but eventually did by draining the overflow so that the height of the water was just enough for him to swim side to side but not swim up and down which made catching him a lot easier. Here’s hoping you’re able to get the little guy out.

Awesome!!

This was a first for me. Going to try and rig a piece of acrylic to cover that space on the top of the overflow that he somehow managed to squeeze himself in. Interesting that had i not seen him in the overflow then who knows what i would've assumed... definitely not to look in that part of the sump. Don't want to go through that again.

Sweet! Glad you got him!

Sometimes people end up with sump fish. If he doesn't want to go back to paradise, who am I to disrupt the whole system?
