I need to add some livestock and since the kids gave me some gift cards to the lfs I'll hopefully be doing that this weekend!
I'm looking for recommendations for a fish that will serve as the BOSS in the tank. Right now I only have two clowns and three pajama cardinals for fish and turbo snails, a conch, and long spine urchin and peppermint shrimp for inverts along with three zoa frags and a goni in this 75gal tank.
My problem is the clowns (really just the female) is a real SOB and is extremely aggressive especially at feeding time. The PJ's get beat on pretty badly.
What can I add to possible help keep them in line? I added a bicolor angel prob around a year or so ago which actually seemed to do the trick before it unexpectedly died out of nowhere.
Hit me with some ideas.....foxface, tang, dwarf angel, etc??

Foxface/Rabbi fish are too temperamental for me.

Drawf angels are always a good option.

I have two tangs in 75G tank and they are gorgeous with the downside of no ornamental macros.

Two drawf angels would be less bioload than two tangs. And tangs get big.

Tomini tang will be ok in your tank and can look after themselves. I've had a couple of fox face and they've been perfectly well behaved especially if they're one of the last to be added. Good luck.

How is your female clownfish a son of anything?
I can’t keep up with the pronouns these days.
I don’t know what the LFS has but I would get something I like when it shows up there.
Have patience and some Boss fish will show up.

I'm not sure adding a boss fish to replace a boss fish is a good idea. Maybe try feeding more so there isn't food aggression. I have a tank with 8 tangs, 2 CBB and a few small fish and have zero aggresion when feeding. Some fish get food faster and the others just move on to the next piece.

I’m not sure adding a “boss” fish is going to make the situation better and, additional adds are going to be hard so you limit yourself.

The PJ’s kinda like to water hang and are not fond of fast swimmers.

Does your clown have a nem?
That might serve to keep her more pinned to one spot.

Yes, Lions are boss. And they may eat Clowns.
There's an option....just kidding!
The female clown I've had since 2020 just a big bully though

I do not have a nem right now. Had one years ago when I didn't really know enough to have one so I've been more patient on that option. When I did have one though the clown has no interest in it.

Basically I think a fish at least a little bigger than the clown will help, not necessarily a mean personality lol
The PJ's are just very mellow and that clown really pushes them and the smaller clown around and I'm looking to maybe get it more in check with a bit bigger fish.

I've always wanted a foxface but was worried it would get to big for the tank, especially now with my long spine taking up a lot of space lol.
The tomini tang sounds cool though!

Agreed. Peaceful is good. What kind of clowns do you have?

No clowns in that tank. I only keep a single ckarkii in my tank with my blue haddoni. I've moved away from clowns because I didn't want to keep nems in all my tanks. I know they don't need nems but for me clownfish and nems are like mash potatoes and gravy.

Man, I absolutely LOVE clowns. I've all but decided on a mated pair of Black Ice Clowns for my 48x39x25, but lately I've been considering a mated pair of Maroons. But as I like Peaceful, I think it may be a REALLY bad idea lol! They are beautiful tho. I had a mellow female in my 90 years ago. What do you think the chances are of a repeat situation.....Yeah.....Too much to ask, I know.....
