I have a 8’ x 4’ x about 30” FOWLR tank and have had two in-tank circulation wave makers that push out a combined 8000 GPH or so. They are positioned in opposite corners. I keep large angels and tangs and it’s been 5 years or so. Well, my fish have m gotten big and mean so I wonder if I need to upgrade to more flow. Appreciate some feedback. Thanks

I've never owned a Monster, but will say that I've never seen a correlation between flow and aggression.

If looking to solve the fish being mean issue, I may look to rebuild the aquascape with the purpose of creating a large amount of caves, hiding places and sleeping quarters.

Given it is a fowlr, you don't have to worry about optimizing the rock for coral mounting, which is a huge benefit.

Rebuilt a couple of times already. The mean 20+” Dussumieri is prob telling me that he needs a larger tank…., sigh. Or maybe the flow is too weak as he swims around chasing others effortlessly

First, pics because that's a big ol fish and I'm a bit envious.

A fish of that size has the muscle to push through a lot more flow than we can even make without it being a whirlpool.

Is the Dussumeiri the largest by far? Is it the "problem child"?

Given the tank size, size of the two fish that you've already listed plus the required scape to house them, I'd guess you're getting into cramped fish territory.

Is a size upgrade planned for the future?

Not really :(

Maybe i should introduce more smaller fish to distract him.

Again, I don't own fish of this size but I do run a roster of tangs that keep me on some tang police no fly lists so take this with a grain of salt.

Adding additional fish to a tank where very large fish are already taking out aggression on each other ( possibly because of crowding )
is the opposite of what I would do.

I agree with Sauce. Probably time to search for a larger home or you may end up with just 1 fish. Really pretty fish.

What do I do with the new 6” emperor and powder blue I just got?

Emperor went though a complete QT over 6 weeks plus more weeks on observation. 7” PWB just arrived yesterday.

What was your original plan?

Is the powder going through QT also?
Self made acclimation box…, it’s comfy for a few days while the Queen is getting used to him
