I have a 180 gallon rimmed tank. Because of some HOB equipment the screen top doesn't completely cover the top. there are sporadic spots towards the back that are open. A few 1''W x 3''L spaces along the back. Looking for some ideas on how to secure these remaining spots. One idea was to get some acrylic from a big box store, manually cut it to size and glue it to the tank rim. Any other ideas? For jumper fish are these type of spaces a risk?

Any hole a fish can fit is potentially an escape route. Have you thought about taking some screen or mesh cutting then super glueing these areas?

Egg crate is wht I do on my QT tanks, cut it to just fit around the hob equipment. Then I use the small zip ties to attach netting to the bottom. You could do a long skinny piece like this along the back and have your screen top but up against it.

In "my 12g" thread, I have a pic of how I did my screen since I have a slightly bowed front. I cut the screen and siliconed it to the main frame to get the result I needed (no escape routes. Came together nicely

I did a tracing and had glass cut at the local glass store for my cube....Most lids have a smaller piece in the front...I switch out that piece with the one cut from the tracing :)

I am assuming that you have a hinge somewhere for feeding or other maintenance Where access to the tank is needed. Can you include a picture.

I want to use screen to fill in my open spaces in the back. I have a rimmed tank. This is a silly question. But how should I attach the screen to the rim of the tank. I tried tonight with super glue and let's just say it got messy.

This is what I did above my 140. I had over the top plumbing in the back and front corners. I made the usual screen top to cover as much as I could. Then I Gorilla glued and tie wrapped some black eggcrate on the front and back of the screen and covered the bottom of that with some gutter guard. It has lasted a couple of years so far.

Fin ,I like the egg crate across the back . Easy way for over the back returns, easily modified for a later addition!
