I use a stock return pump approximately 250 gph in my JBJ 20g rimless.
Would like to replace with a Sicce 1.5 357gph rate but put a Y connect and 2 random flow generator nozzles on which actually decreases the outflow, but can create opposite random current.
Internal pumps are too strong and stationary.
Mixed reef mostly LPS, 3 yrs established.
Doable? What's your thoughts?

My concern with going with a bigger pump is, can your overflow handle the extra water coming through?
Plus with bigger pumps come the possibility of more noise from water movement and just the pump.

Maybe it's a thing with those tanks. I have not had one.

Went ahead and ordered the pump. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for the suggestions!

Increasing the flow with the larger pump wont do much over current pump.
I would opt for a dc powerhead like I ran in my old 18" 20g cube, Jebao ow-25, and I run a Tunze 6040 in my current 15.
Old 20.
